A Word from the Pastor - John Adegboye

Patience is a virtue we all want to have but unfortunately it only comes from being in the furnace. So smile when the king orders that the furnace be heated seven times because a Greater King needs the fire to mould your CROWN. Hebrews 12:11 says "Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby."

The failure of many is not a good reason for you not to try and keep going as the Bible says. "But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul" Hebrews 10:39

Forgiveness is free but Trust is earned. One is obtained by confession but the other by action. Be faithful in the little things God has committed to you.

The Brook will not dry up and the Ravens cease to supply your daily rations unless God has a widow ready in your Zarephath. The rain of Manna will not stop falling unless the Corn of your promised land is ripe for harvesting. When Man stops helping you, God takes over. When Man leaves you, God announces His presence. "Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is." Jeremiah 17:7.

Things God Will Enforce

Without a doubt God takes special pleasure in enforcing certain things more than others. If we undestand them we will learn to align ourselves with him in his agenda for this flitting world. God will enforce His counsel. Ephesians 1:11 makes us to understand that he works everything according to the counsel of His will so that His counsel will always stand. Find out His counsel for your life and the situation you are in right now and stop chasing a mirage. Closely related to this is that God will always enforce His word. The foundation for the word of God has been laid in heaven and is not subject to change on earth. Rather than seeking to change the word we will do well to change for the word. In life there are two ways to live, either according to the flesh or according to the spirit. Most of us are in effective christians because we want the best of the two kingdoms refusing to declare our total allegiance to God. God will also always enforce His covenant provided the other party to the covenant remains faithful. He appears to the joy of them that tremble at His word. Lastly, God enforces the destiny of them that put their trust in him. To the church in Philadephia He said "I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee and open door, and no man can shut it: for thou has a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name". So it is not about how large a force is required to open certain doors but who is trying to open it because the right combination is required.

Walking in The Supernatural

Upon becoming born again, Paul in Romans 6:1-5 encourages us to walk in the newness of life. Speaking in the same vein in 2Corinthians 5:17 Paul asserted that all things in and around the believer has become new. We know that those things do not physically change but our views both about ourselves and about things around us change. The change in the view of the believer  is what we call faith.  Thus the frontier of the operation of the believer becomes expanded because of divine presence as a result of worshipping in Spirit and in truth. Divine presence makes you a harbinger of the supernatural extending your natural into the realm of the supernatural. One single and crucial step that helps you to walk into the realm of the supernatural is obedience. The factor that activates the power in the word of God is your ready and complete obedience. To live in obedience we have to abandon our traditional 'high horses' and securities in the form of defences hidden in such things as education, position, connection, pride, rationalisation and lies to name a few.  To listen to this message click here.

The Instruments of Our Worship

I want to believe that it is the desire of every child of God to worship Him in an acceptable way. We need certain instruments in our armoury (since it is part of our spiritual battle) if our worship is to rise to God as a sweet smelling savour. To be successful worshippers we must worship with joyfulness and with gladness. God takes this very seriously as indicated in Deuteronomy 28:45-47. To carry these instruments while wearing our garments of praise means we must focus our gaze on heavenly things as in Colossians 3:1-4. To praise God effectively is to ascribe greater importance to the things of God. When your life goals become your destination you cannot praise God effectively. As every priest has something to sacrifice, so you must sacrifice yourself in the first instance. When you have been broken but only fixed or mended by the Grace of God you will loose all pride. At that point you are ready to honour God in your absolute obedienece to ALL His words. Since you are constantly washed by the water of the word holiness becomes less of a mirage. Closely linked to this is that our worship must be according to knowledge of God Romans 10:1-3. Very importantly if you are not to fall along the way you must partner with the Holy Spirit while avoiding seducing spirits that foster pride and unwatchfulness. The same Holy spirit continues to remind you of your identity in Jesus so that you are not defined by your circumstances. To listen to this message click here.

The Vine Branch

To the Christian the measure of  the quality of  an idea or principle should be how much of Christ is in it. The attached branch is fed on the word of God. That is why Paul admonished Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:15 to rightly divide the word of truth. The implication of this is that the word works best when undistorted by our personal idiosyncracies. A truely healthy branch remains attached to the tree trunk even in adversity. The trunk supplies the nutrients and controls the branch. The branch on its part produces after the kind of tree trunk that bears it. As the branch cannot withstand some storms on its own without the tree trunk so also a child of God needs the inner strength supplied by God through his word. As a child of God, your peace derives from  your ongoing connection to the source of peace. In fact your success also depends on this connection as your hope and tomorrow. For he says "say ye to the righteous it is well with him." He also ensures your provision according to heaven's economy and directs your steps. To listen to this message click here.

The Way of The Overcomers

To be an overcomer means there are obstacles and hinderances to get over, defeat or overcome by mastering. The overcomer is destined to be a pillar in the house of God Revelation 3:12. For the Christian, the starting point is to overcome the self and it's desires. The issues in self account for a big percentage of  the Christian work to be done in total sumission to the Holy Spirt and the Word of God. This process of maturation, growth and sanctification is perfected in trials, persecutions and tribulations. It is assigned to ALL who will live godly in Christ Jesus to suffer persecution 2 Timothy 3:12.

According to a writer the Humanist Christian that removes God as the centre and focus of their faith but instead promote self actualisation is bound to fail the required tests. The Traditional Christian in his bid to achieve perfection of delivery ends up mortgaging content. Both of these groups pick and choose what parts of the word of God are doable or  appear logical to their intellectual leanings. Obecdience to the word is thrown out of the window and emphasis are determined by social and political exigensis.

The True believers on the other hand accept their flaws and also accept the perfection that comes with grace. They follow Spiritual principles and hold to the word as a way of life. They are true worshippers that worship in Spirit and in truth. If you want to listen to this message click here.

The Word  That  Counts

The word of God must be the final authority in the life of  every child of  God. As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the children of God. Jesus said "the word that I speak to you they are Spirit and they are Life". So it can be safely said that as many as are led by the word of God (because it is Spirit), they are the children of God.Your blessings will not depend on how much of the word of God that you know but on how much of the word of God that you do. The same God that hates divorce also hates lies, lack of integrity, unfaithfulness, manipulations, dissensions, rebellions, envy, jealousy, false prophecy and all forms of uncleaniness. In Proverbs 30:28  God considers as wise the Spider that weaves his way to the palace. As a child of God, where  do you consider as your final destination or palace? This will determine your approach to the things you do. Nothing is too small to do for God. Your reward is in your diligence in carrying out heavenly assignments wherever you are positioned.
